We all have things we wish we did last year but never got around to. Here are my top ten bookish regrets from 2015.
1. Seveneves by Neal Stephenson
One day I will finally read one of his books! Although I’m not sure whether I want to start with Seveneves, or Reamde, or Snow Crash…
2. Illumine by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
The premise for this book really caught my eye. I even requested it from the library, but waited too long to go pick it up.
3. The Sandman: Overture by Neil Gaiman
Another entry to my FAVORITE graphic novel series!
4. Welcome to Nightvale by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor
I started listening to this podcast while working at the library and thought it was delightfully strange. Hope the book is just as enjoyable!
5. The Grownup by Gillian Flynn
I can forgive myself for this one since I only discovered Gone Girl fairly late last year.
6. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
I had actually borrowed this book from my library on my Kindle, but I never got around to reading it before the loan expired.
7. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
I’ve heard wonderful things about this book. Plus that is one eye-grabbing title.
8. Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
I haven’t read a really good graphic novel in some time.
9. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
When I first heard of this book I actually thought that it was by Gillian Flynn!
10. The Bazaar of Bad Dreams by Stephen King
I included this book on my list of 2015 releases I was most looking forward to, but then forgot about it until a reading group I’m a member of chose it as one of the monthly reads.
Seveneves is fantastic and I hope you will like it! My first book by the author happened to be Snow Crash on audio. 🙂
A Darker Shade of Magic and Simon were also two of my favorites. Nimona is so much fun!!
Check out my TTT.
I didn’t get the chance to read Illuminae either. Will have to get on it. What a great list.
Thank you
Thanks for visiting! I think I need to re-request Illuminae from my library.
I think there should be some kind of pass on not getting to books that came out close to the end of the year. A couple of books on your list I’ve never heard of, and they look interesting. Might have to check them out.
My TTT:Marie @ Pages to Explore
Yeah, I definitely think it’s acceptable to get a pass for those November-December releases. Just as long as you get around to them early the next year!
Oh no, I think this week’s list could make me want to read even more! Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda was a favourite of mine last year. I really hope that you enjoy it and the rest of the books on this list if you get around to them this year!
A new Sandman! Thanks for sharing.
Here’s my Top Ten!
I was excited when I heard about it! I hope it’ll be as good as the rest of the series.
I also can’t wait to read Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda and The Girl on The Train. I got The Girl on The Train for Christmas, so Hopefully I will be reading it soon! 😀 Happy Reading!
My TTT! 😀
That’s awesome that you got Girl on the Train as a gift – just makes it easier for you to read it this year! Happy reading to you too!
I want to read Simon and A Darker Shade of Magic too. Actually, I think I might want to start with Vicious, but close enough lol. But I’m pretty sure I checked, and they don’t have the ebooks for my library 🙁 And I’ve had a lot of people recommend Nimona, so I hear it’s good!
I think part of the reason why I didn’t get around to reading A Darker Shade of Magic was because my indecision kicked in and I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to read that or purchase Vicious, so I ended up reading neither. This year I just need to pick a book and stick with it!
I’ve read ARMADA in December and it was AWESOME, you should definitely read it soon! 😉
I’ve only read one book by Neil Stephenson (CRYPTONOMICON) and I’m not sure I’m going to read a second one because it wasn’t really my cup of tea and his book are always SOOO long 😀
I also want to read WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE soon but I still need to catch up with the podcast before I’m going to start reading.
GIRL ON THE TRAIN was a thrilling read and it’s definitely similar to the Gillian Flynn books! 😉
Part of the reason why I STILL haven’t read a Stephenson book despite requesting them from the library is because I get intimidated by the length. And I could definitely take another dive back into the Nightvale Podcast since I still haven’t finished all of the episodes.
A Darker Shade of Magic was on my list this week too!

Hopefully we’ll both get a chance to read it this year!
